Originally made up of volunteers, the Network has grown into a recognised organisation that represents the views of the LGBT community. 1/3/12 Members Update 2012 - General Meeting
As many of you will be aware it has been a difficult time for the LGBT Network over the last 12 months and the decision making of the trustees has been questioned by the LGBT Community. It has also been a financially challenging time, the LGBT Network is a charity and has been reliant on funding grants and support from the local authorities, all of which have now come to an end.
In an attempt to rebuild confidence in the community and move the Network forward on Thursday 1st March 2012 an election took place resulting in a new board of trustees being elected. Many of the new Trustees are professionally qualified LGBT people or have contributed to work in the LGBT community before and are keen to get things moving.
This is a fresh start for the LGBT Network and you are about to see many changes, but the most signifiant thing you will see is a change of attitude towards the community. This is your community network and we believe your ideas count. To ensure this will happen the monthly community meetings will restart from April, we will be looking to reopen The Polari Lounge and whole list of community involvement groups will be set up to look at everything from finance and governance to Stoke Pride.
Its time to draw a line under the past and get the LGBT Community moving again... and we need your help to do this!
